Let’s look at who is lacking in reason. I never said that Communism was not associated with Marxism. I said that societies that label themselves “Communist States” do not equal communism, and historically betray the fundamental principles of socialist philosophy. You’ve also proven that you don’t know what dialectics are, since they have been around since Aristotle and are a part of almost all philosophy since then. You just can’t seem to grasp that Marxist analysis is not an analog of communism

Consider this: there were even larger atrocities committed in the name of religious texts like the bible or the Qur’an, so please cast equal aspersions upon them as well. @featheon Your ignorance (or your attempted deceit) is staggering. Marx wrote the “Communist Manifesto”! He wrote the freaking book Lenin, Stalin, and Mao used to justify their horrors. You’re a delusional revisionist. That the Soviet Union was based on Marxism and that Lenin and Stalin murder millions creating their Marxist state are indisputable historical fact. Millions starved or shot to death. That you would defend Marxism and deny its atrocities is reprehensible. The mass graves and bloodstained gulags are not “conceptions”. They are historical fact. Have you no conscience, no sense of human decency? Probably not. Marxist usually don’t.
Thirdly, it is really quite unmistakable that you are infusing all of your rhetoric with Slavic nationalism that automatically infuses a philosophical conceptions with genocide.
Excuse me, I meant that his comment doesn’t reflect HIS political ideology, but this is moot because he never mentioned Marxism (he mentioned a critical theory).
Second, all the examples you cited were tyrannical oligarchies in which a small group of leaders controlled the money and the guns and forced its policies on a population kept in line with physical intimidation, while making virtual slaves of the workers. That you associate these things with Marxism shows your ignorance, I’m afraid.

I agree with you emphatically. It tells us that he is one of a very small minority of commentators who is smart enough to use a trope like “Marxist analysis” in the correct context, without fearing the mob of uneducated viewers who think it reflects a political ideology.

I don’t know what is so hard to understand. In fact, the wiki entry for “Marxist Analysis” stresses the conflation made between itself and Marxism as political philosophy as its first point! Still most of you remain willfully ignorant of this point and vote negatively upon comments that seek to clarify this common misconception.
He doesn’t admit the he is in any way leaning towards Marxism. Marxism is a political philosophy. Marxist analysis is a critical theory.
Chris Matthews is arguably the single most brainwashed, delusional, idiotic person on live television. Yes, that includes Hannity, Olbermann, O’Reilly, and Maddow. In no way am I surprised that he would come out and admit that he leaned towards Marxism.

Matthews is as CAPITALIST as they come.
